The 2nd Annual Pigskin Paradise Bowl has come to an end. It was
a dead heat going into the final week with both Craig Garcia and Jimmy Hayes tied for the top spot.
Congratulations
going out to this years Pigskin Paradise Bowl "Playa of the Year" Craig Garcia of Kailua, HI. Throughout the
entire NFL regular season Craig consistently posted high numbers bringing all 3 of his entries into the Top 4 slots.
Craig edged out a tough competitor in Jimmy Hayes who held the top spot for the majority of the second half of the season.
Jimmy put up a great battle, but in the final week it was Craig who posted 11 wins vs. Jimmy's 9 wins giving Craig the
overall victory with 140 wins. Jimmy finished strong in a 3-way tie with Craig's other 2 entries. Tony Ramos
was also a fierce competitor heading into the final weeks, but a few average win weeks slid him down into 5th, 7th, and 12th place
respectively. Congratulations again Craig on capturing this prestigous title formerly held by yours truly, Pu'ukani
who amassed 129 wins for a 8th place finish.
Other notables playas that shown flashes of greatness throughout the
season was Mykgee who out of the gates posted a few double digit wins sending out a message to all other playas that he was
in it to win it! M. Gundayao in the end finished in 6th place. Great job! G. Flauta posted competitive
numbers and I have to believe if Week 6 wasn't missed he could of been in the running for the title. David Iz Goliath,
my 6 year old son who randomly chose teams finished with 129 wins on the season giving him a share of the 9th slot with G.
Flauta. He started off slow, but the second half of the season he poured it on posting almost 6 weeks straight of double
digit wins. How amazing is that... and against the spread? That' sick!
My beautiful bride Laura
"Dolphin Lover" also did an amazing job with 127 wins, and like G. Flauta, she missed making her picks in week 11
pulling her out of the running for the top spot in the end. Lukela Keala, the Lead singer for the group Ekolu stuck
in there and put up decent numbers allowing him to round off the Top 12 playas. A few wins behind was none other than
RSP's very own artist Ryan from the Big Island with 120 wins. D. Storrs, C. Tokunaga, W. Callahan, N. Torres, R.E.
Lezada, and D. Mew all posted 100+ wins respectively. Good effort, but not enough guys. Incentive for next year!
And speaking of incentives I did say that the Playa of the year would gain a few prize incentives.
Craig Garcia for capturing this year's title you won the following:
2008 Trophy For Pigskin Paradise Bowl $50 Gift Card To Retail store of choice Big Pipeline 2 Paradise Radio Coffee Mug A CD and DVD From P2P Radio Stash Bragging Rights For an entire year
Again congratulations Craig for winning "Playa of the Year"
and to all other playas. I'll close it out by simply saying, Good luck next year! You can congratulte Craig by clicking
