Besides my great enthusiasm
and love for Hawaiian and Island music, my passion for music is rooted back in the mid 70's to early 80's.
Ahhh the good times, when I was a young boy budding into a teenager trying to find my identity and place in the circle. Early
influences shaping my musical interests included groups like the legendary Commodores. Ballads like "Easy,
"Three Times A Lady," and "Oh No" is why I consider myself a huge "Old School Slow Jamz"
fan. The youthful R&B sounds of New Edition also had a tremendous impression on me. "Mr. Telephone Man,"
"Is This The End," and who can forget the title cut off their debut album "Candy Girl." In my humble
Generation X opinion, this era of music was simply the best! Still, no matter what genre of music or era of music
I'm listening to, one thing that always jumps out to me is pure talent. God given talent always shines through and
when you hear it it's simply refreshing.
Towards
the end of 2008 I was introduced to three young men who possessed this God given talent. The Tuita Boyz, Hefa, Soa,
and Niua danced and sung at a local Island Festival here in Las Vegas. My first impression was a positive one.
Their enthusiastic moves, fresh harmonies, and youthful innocence won over the audience that night. I also learned soon
after that they were all actors, having appearances in Disney's High School Musical 3. Talk about "triple
threats" in the making, these kids were on their way! I recall feeling that with a little more exposure
and experience along with correct guidance these boyz would soon become very popular amongst their peers and extended
community.
Fast forward to 2010 and to my excitement, the Tuita Boyz have continued to polish their talents not only as
actors and dancers, but even more as singers. In fact, Pipeline 2 Paradise Radio is privileged to have been given the
exclusive radio releases on 3 songs the boyz have recently recorded.
Niua (10),
the youngest of the 3 breakouts out with a song entitled "Shake It," patterned after
the 1969 smash hit "Sugar, Sugar." Once again his youthful vocals immediately capture you. Like
the original, the song packs an infectious rhythm, with a Tuita Boyz twist if you will. Being an 80's music lover
it instantly flashes me back to 1982 and a group called Musical Youth with their Grammy-nominated single "Pass
The Dutchie."
Soa (15), bounces into the mix and boasts his talents in
a song entitled "Hit That Move." The song is what us 80's
people would categorize as "head-boppin" or as the younger generation would say "neck-snappin"
joint. I think that's what they say? A mainstream Hip-Hop and R&B sound is showcased in this song
and quite frankly "Hit That Move" flows hand in hand with the Boyz and their captivating dance skills.
An instant anthem to "get any party started," it surely has potential to become a favorite in the dance
and club realms.
Like the Kangol Kid from
UTFO back in 1984, the oldest of the bunch, Hefa (18) can surely "Sing, Rap, and Dance
in just one show." Recently Hefa's accomplishments include dancing with Jennifer Lopez for her television appearances
on the American Music Awards, Ellen, So You Think You Can Dance and Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Years Eve.
He was also a featured dancer at the 2009 Emmys, and a member of the Nick 6 dancers on Nickelodeon’s television series
Dance on Sunset. Hefa steps into the singing spotlight with his debut song entitled "You
Make Me Wanna." "Hef" strums his faithful ukulele while a smooth island rhythm allows him
to express his feelings for that special person he admires. Do you remember your first "krush?"
"You Make Me Wanna" will definitely lead you walking down memory lane.
In all three realms, acting,
dancing and singing, the future is very bright for the Tuita Boyz and the sky is truly the limit for them. Listen for
all 3 songs exclusively in rotation on Pipeline 2 Paradise radio. If you can't wait to hear them, samples of each
song are posted HERE at Island Beats.com and also available for purchase.

your musical journey.
